Money, Then What?
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 23, 2026
Money, Then What? is operated by Geoffrey Surprenant. No bank connection is required. You choose what financial information to enter.
Free calculators
Ordinary inputs to the free calculators and Credit & Debt Checkup stay in your browser’s memory while you use them. The application does not save those financial entries to an account or database. The Bill Comparison upload works differently, as described below.
Saved My Money Map
Saved Money Map data and Check-Ins are stored in the application’s Cloudflare D1 database (its backend database) so they can be retrieved later. Your Money Map can include the financial amounts, priorities, and notes you choose to enter. Individual saved Money Maps and Check-Ins can be deleted through their available controls. Account deletion removes saved Money Map and Check-In financial data and Clerk sign-in access. Limited transaction, purchase-acceptance, Founder-history, tax, fraud, compliance, and account-deletion integrity records may be retained where necessary.
Sign-in and billing
Clerk handles sign-in (authentication) through its own service. My Money Map purchases use Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe through Link acts as merchant of record for those transactions and handles payment processing and applicable covered indirect-tax compliance. The application stores subscription and membership records needed to recognize paid access, plus a limited record of the Checkout Terms acceptance, policy versions, price, and purchase time. It does not intentionally store full payment-card numbers, billing address copies, or Money Map financial inputs in billing records. Each provider may process information under its own services and settings.
Analytics and browser storage
When configured, PostHog receives limited behavior events such as page views and tool interactions. The application uses a strict allowlist and does not intentionally include entered financial values, results, financial profiles, account identifiers, or personal information in those events. Session replay and automatic interaction capture are disabled. The PostHog browser library uses memory-only storage on this site instead of saving its identifier state in local storage or cookies. PostHog may process and retain the limited events it receives under its service settings. Ordinary calculator entries are held in browser memory; authentication and third-party services may use their own browser storage or cookies under their settings.
Bill Comparison uploads
If you choose to upload two supported bill files, they are sent to Cloudflare Workers AI to convert, read, extract information, and compare them. Extraction can include provider, dates, totals, usage, charges, and an account reference printed on the bill. Bill text may contain other personal information. The application code does not deliberately store the original files or extracted bill record in its database after processing. Cloudflare may process or retain information under its own service practices and settings; this policy does not promise otherwise. Check important findings against the original bills.
Requests and support
If you submit a bill-type feature request, the application stores the requested type, any custom request text, and your email in D1. The email is used for that feature notification, not a newsletter signup. If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond.
Keep unnecessary sensitive data out
Do not submit Social Security numbers, passwords, bank login credentials, full payment-card or bank-account numbers, identity documents, unrelated medical information, or other unnecessary sensitive information. Cover or remove details a bill comparison does not need before uploading.
Providers and contact
Current provider categories include Clerk (authentication), Stripe (billing), Cloudflare (hosting, D1 storage, and Workers AI), and PostHog (limited analytics when configured). Provider handling may differ from what the application itself stores. For privacy or data questions, contact support@moneythenwhat.com.
